Mildred Mobley Obituary

Life Reflections Mildred Watson Mobley was born in Buena Vista, AL. She was the fourth of eight children born to Blanch “Tan” and Katie Watson. She accepted Christ at an early age at Saint James Lutheran Church. She attended Saint James Lutheran Church School just across the field from home. She graduated from Monroe County High School. Mildred attended Immanuel Lutheran Jr. College in Greensboro, NC and Barber-Scotia College in Concord, NC where she received a Bachelor’s degree in Education. She also received her Master of Science plus 30 from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Mildred moved to Gary, IN in 1962, with her sister, Blanche and her family. She married her college friend Melvin R. Mobley Sr. in 1964. To this union two children were born – Melvin Ray II and Krystal Donella. Melvin and Mildred were blessed with a third son, Randy Lavell. She was a Core Teacher at the Junior High level in Omaha Public Schools for 34 years. Throughout the years she mentored and nurtured many of her students. Mildred was a faithful member of Hope Lutheran Church for several decades. She served many positions and was an active member of the Women’s Club, but her favorite was Sunday School Teacher. Mildred was preceded in death by her beloved parents; two brothers, Joe Henry and Oliver Watson; three sisters, Willie Watson Clinton, Flora B. Watson Brown and Ida Watson Odom; five brother-in-law’s, Rev. Richard C. Dickinson, Frank Henry, Rev. James H. Clinton, Rev. Frazier Odom and Donald Reed. Mildred, affectionately called “BaBa” by those who knew and loved her, leaves three children to mourn her passing, Melvin Ray II (Raymond Moore) of San Antonio, TX, Krystal Donella (Melvin) Walker of Omaha, NE and Randy Lavell Noble Mobley Jr. (special friend Dawn Washington); six grandchildren, Shaye Walker, Dontavious Washington, Darnell Washington, Adonis Washington, Leah Washington, Myra Washington, Indy Washington, and Gabriel Washingon; three sisters, Blanche Dickinson of St. Louis, MO, Helen Henry of Birmingham, AL and Elizabeth Marshall of Pensacola, FL; one uncle, Johnny Marshall of Chicago, IL; 2 god children, Kavetta Thompson and Bernard Dickinson; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
